Learning Hopelandic

Could be useful when preparing for Jónsi’s new album named Go which incredibly increases my desire of dancing and being, since it’s catchy and so thoughtful at the same time. Luckily most of the lyrics are English. Some words flame up occasionally that hint at his band Sigur Rós. So better get yourself a crash course in Hopelandic!

Get it on, get it on
Fuck it, let’s go and live
Get it on, bring it on
Fuck it, break out and be.

Three words

…that truly got an impact on me these days are I’m here. They are used for the title of Spike Jonze’s short film which was shown during the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and if you got the time you definitely should give it a try (watch the movie here). Though I was sceptical about watching a short film at first (”How is he going to put a touching story into 30 minutes?”), the only words left to say by me right now are: This movie is a spring of creativity whose drops really made me think and filled me with hope. Life is here and now - and everything is up to us.

Ordinary is no place to be.

Perception

March 7th, 2010 Julius No comments

Sometimes things become blurry. Happy people upstairs: Singing, drinking, living for the moment. I long for being that right now. Nevertheless I rather sit on my chair: The door is closed; music  - hopefully it helps being on my own. Sitting in my room. Something to say - it just wants to come out, so I rather let it:

And all you see, is where else you could be, when you’re at home.

One question remains: Where is home?

Being grateful for music

Here I sit, listening to Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek, since music always helps me reflecting my thoughts and feelings. Everyone is seeking something. Others rather hide. That’s just human. Still: Hiding makes finding more difficult. My new headphones arrived two days ago. They are so colored - so full of life. I “love” them - as far as you can say that to a thing; They remind me of who I am when I’m happy, how I’m supposed to be that spring of life. Moreover the bring the music closer to me, reaching even the last hidden corner of my brain to unleash all thoughts in there. They want to break out, only stopped by those headphones and the lyrics that are conveyed - They keep them in mind. Perhaps I will take a walk, watching people passing by, take a deep breath and experience life around me. And re-experience some awesome moments while holding the tears back to not even lose one tiny second of them all. It’s hard, and I only wish turning back time would be possible. But apparently that’s how life goes: You never know. So probably I won’t take a walk. Who knows? Not me.

Oily marks appear on walls, where pleasure moments hung before.

Trying to remove that marks. Not easy at all. But I won’t give up.

You cant fail if you dont give up.

At least I’m still the dreamer I’ve always been.

Catch the tunes, little lion

After listening to a few songs, I just have to say: What an awesome band! Speaking of the british Folk/Bluegrass group Mumford & Sons. They are definitely something that will catch my attention for a while and therefore are part of my listening-lineup including artists like Frank Turner. British folk music seems to be worth keeping an eye on \o/. But since words can just hardly convey the brilliance of music, get yourself some speakers, some glasses (in case you need them) and enjoy the following stunning impressions for eyes and ears - called Little Lion Man, the debut single of their album Sigh No More.

Well-known songs experienced in a new way

Even if already four days of 2010 passed by, I looked back to 2009 - at least when it comes to music - and discovered something that might please your ears. If you like cover versions (actually those below are definitely worth listening to them) you should give the following link a try. Ray tried to summarise the best cover songs of 2009 on the blog called Cover Me. Performing artists are for example: Ben Gibbard, Feist, Coldplay, The Gaslight Anthem, Imogen Heap and Eels :).

Mikro ganz groß

September 1st, 2009 Julius No comments

Toll. Wunderbar. Genial. Gross.
